Patient care at the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center is certain to extend beyond medical diagnoses and treatments. This is where Social Worker Ann Ajari steps in to make sure patients and their families have the support and direction needed to tend to emotional and other personal needs.
Ann educates patients about the appropriate community resources available to them, including support groups for cancer patients, survivors, and families.
“I learn,” she says, “from every patient’s life I touch.”
Ann earned her master’s degree in social work at University of California, Berkeley. She and her husband, Bruce, have two children.
