Medical Director of Tahoe Forest Cancer Center

With over 30 years in oncology, Dr. Heifetz still feels a wonderful sense of satisfaction in his ability to help cancer patients and meet the many challenges his career continues to present. He was a founding partner of Tower Hematology Oncology Medical Group at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Heifetz is also a clinical professor at UC Davis. An important part of his cancer treatment approach, along with the entire Tahoe Forest Cancer Center staff, is allowing each patient to feel comfortable and open with their healthcare team. The result is a personal and honest experience.

He has developed solid relationships with thought leaders from regional cancer centers of excellence including the Stanford Cancer Center, UC Davis Cancer Center, and UC San Francisco Cancer Center. Identifying the best possible treatment is always his priority, and utilizing those, and other, relationships to facilitate useful second opinions provides the security that his patients will be getting the
state-of-the-art care.

Part of what makes the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center exceptional is the fact that we provide up to date technology in the remote mountain area of Truckee California, so that patients don’t have to travel far for high-quality care. This means patients experience less interruption to their lives and continue working and handling personal matters without giving up time for travel.

A musician in his free time, Dr. Heifetz plays the piano with a blues band. He is also on the Board of Directors and volunteers for Operation U.S.A, an organization that provides medical relief to third-world countries. His wife, Daphne Palmer, MD, is a radiation oncologist. They have two grown children.
